This bike was the ugly duckling of my collection. I really liked it for the patina, but it got no love when it came to being pulled out and ridden. It originally had a tank on it many moons ago as evidenced by the wear on the inside of the tubes. Surface rust had long since taken the tanks place. The original colors of this bike were Maroon and grey with an orange pinstripe. Well what shows up on ebay but a 3 gill tank, used and from a Hawthorne (supposedly) that has a matching, patina'd, paint scheme. What are the odds of that?! I patiently waited almost 4 years and my persistence paid off. Now to slap a mens long spring saddle on it and away she will be ridden!!
