Hello out there! I've been going back and forth on this chainguard for a while. Not 100% about the results. Considering purchasing the correct guard. But figured I'd have a little fun first and give it a sex change.

This is what it should have.

The bike had a replacement type chainguard so i bought one of these off ebay

This is usually found on old girl's Elgins I think.

I had to cut it to make it fit

I thought it looked too feminine. So I found a cheapy guard, cut it up and tack welded to the back side around the sprocket. Viola. Watch that chain disappear!

Holes covered, slightly more masculine look. Closed up and shut off, like man.
But It still kinda bothered me. So After finding a radiator cover in the trash and cutting it up to fit I had this.

So what do you all think about it? Does it look weird? Is it "manly" enough?
My next idea is to fill the circles with bondo to make it look a little smoother. The whole thing looks a little busy. Should I just buy the right one?

I like it as is, I think the recessed holes make it interesting. I think some simple pinstriping would break it up some.

I'm using the same Elgin chain guard on my bike build. Was going to modify it to work with a derailluer, but that's changed, I'm sticking to a single speed. I like the way you trimmed it, but I personally like the holes in it.
Cool use of the vent grating though, some diamond plate would be more 'manly' though!

Build on brotha!
