maybe one of you guys with a 'c' model can tell me the axle to crown measurement on the correct original fork. the measurement i need is from the center of the axle to the bottom of the headset crown race. i know a 40-41 dx is 15", and the prewar frames with the curved downtube and straight middle bar (autocycle? motorbike?) are 15 1/2", but i need to fill in the blank on the 'c' model. :?: thanks!

There was a taller and shorter frame on Schwinn bikes from this era. I am running into a problem with some truss rods on my '36 C model because I think the bike was supposed to have a locking (taller) fork or the truss rods are meant for one of the taller models, with a taller headtube.

I don't know this for sure. B607 probably knows.

yeah, should probably pm, but i figure he'll stumble on to this eventually :) i wonder if your rods are for a ladies model, didn't they usually have taller head tubes?

They were from a friend's Motorbike that he parted out, so I know they fit on his. I am trying to use a postwar fork and it's a non-locking. They're like 2-3 cm away from fitting.

even just messing with klunkers i've been finding out there are a lot more different fork dimensions than i would have imagined :!:
