Prewar Schwinn? - Model? Year?

Somebody has this Schwinn for sale
Any info about model, year? What parts are missing, what is not original?
Maybe how much it worth?

I have a similar one that is a 1949
Serial number should tell you the year

Looking like everything could be original.
Possible it's missing a tank, but could be that it didn't have one

I found a 1948 model D97X which looks like this.

I have what I also believe to be a '48 (records before '49 were destroyed) frame and it has a curved tanktube and forward facing dropouts. I would say postwar based on the forward facing dropouts.

Not a D97X. The paint graphics look like the D97X but the frame is a straight bar. DX has 2 curved bars. That's probably a Hornet. Gary.
