Saw a deluxe krate in person not too long ago and got the urge to get one for myself.

I saw how much they go for, so I decided to go another route.

I present to you the journey of one 20" Bratz beauty bike:

Stripped of seat and fenders, wearing a bike club.

cut out for chain guard to get that layered krate style

Really wanted to do a nice honey leather tuck and roll banana, but I couldn't find one anywhere. So I grabbed an old bomber jacket and stitched the leather with the seats original foam. It polished up to a nice patina, very supple and fits the look.

Do not try this on a home sewing machine (experience)

quick mock featuring the 16" front and missing many junk parts.

Going Forward:
Plans to piecemeal the rest of the build out over the next 6 weeks

Phase 1:
-Appropriate black wall tires, Slick wheel in back
-Krate style pedals

Phase 2:
-Vintage white schwinn stingray grips
-Chrome Krate ducktail fenders

Phase 3:
-Decals
-Lighting

Phase 3 will showcase the most originality, I have a few tricks up my sleeve.

STAY TUNED

Looking great! Keep up the good work

I stitched the pleats using the "cheat" method of sandwiching the seat foam between the leather and layer of cotton twill or similar material.

I used spray adhesive to bind the 3 layers together and then marked the increments for the pleats on the bottom and ran it through a sewing machine.

I'm proud of it, but I is definitely not perfect

IF YA WANTED PERFECT YOU'D HAVE TAKEN IT TO A SHOP. BUT IT'S A RAT ROD BABY. YOU DID A GREAT JOB DON'T SWEAT IT. I NEED A NANA SEAT LIKE THAT...GET TA BUILDIN'!! PEACE
