Hey all, Here’s another bike we made with more leftover RRBO parts. I wasn;t sure where to post these since RRBO ays you an only enter one bike. Just wanted to share
1970's Western Flyer Buzz Bike Eliminator — Free from the local dump.
All I could salvage really was the frame, the seat was rusted through, the handlebars, sissy bar, and neck broke in half due to rust. Cranks, wheels, pedals, and all nuts & bolts were 100% locked up toast. But did manage to salvage original purple grips, chain guard, back fender & frame!
What we did:
- Cleaned all rust off original fender & chain guard - left the "Buzz Bike Eliminator " on it.
- Sanded, slapped on primer, chopped neck (twice), painted it purple, put on chrome tape racing stripes.
- Took forks, neck & tires off free dump-day "Next" BMX bike.
- Had to grind down taipered (fat) enf on fork tube, and cut off hand brake caliper thingy...
- Took rims off another bike (but had to replace rear-wheel internal coaster hub with other old hub due to bad bearings)
- Took pedals off a mountain bike.
- Took cranks off another BMX some guy gave me.
- Found 10 speed handlebars in my pile o' parts.
- Had old “Graco” long black seat I got on eBay awhile back, never found a home for it until now.
- Sissy bar & bracket off old Girls Huffy bike.
Rides good, forks a little stiff, real easy to pedal, like it's in a high gear. not good for racing, but good for rock hoppin' & puddle jumpin'.
Thanks for lookin' - Peace, T.
