Anyone here ever chop one up, make one, rat one?? I saw a picture of one (of course I cant find it now) and I cant stop thinking of the possibilities of how cool of a hot rod, rat rod one could be made into. So post up some pics, knowledge, whatever!

I have dreamed up a couple different designs for a quad pedal car, but put them on hold for lack of storage room. I've told the wife our next house will have an extra half-acre for a shop and old car/bike parking room. :)

I'll rent out some space in that half acre!!

I just picked up a steel 4 wheeler crate as the start to my bike-car, the frame. It will have 20" wheels, was going coaster, but instead we have 2 freewheel rims. 20" fronts as well, steering accomplished with either a simple tie rod between forks or use the rack and pinion off of a side by side atv that was given to me. It will be set up like a golf cart with bench front and rear facing back. Will have a roof and bicycle racks so that we can ride it to the trailhead then unload mountain bikes.

I think the coolest thing about this will be that it will be about the same size as a golf cart but I won't be hassled for riding it on the streets (as long as I don't get stupid).

Hmmm, you have to bring this up right after I buy a welder. Now to decide what the first project will be....Tallbike, chopper, quad bike, tandem, burrito, the possibilities are endless.

Stop thinking, start building!

Of your list though, tallbike is easiest, and even if you don't like it, you can have "able to ride tall bike" under your belt *and* people offer me money for my tallbikes every time I ride them.

I had an attempt to complete one with a bunch of spare parts and headaches....

I think someone needs to build a quad Sand Rover!!!!!!
Another use for chopped up OCC's

Funny you mention that, I was just "tire shopping" on Amazon and found a 20x4.25 tire for under $7 each, around $13 with shipping, and with our design clearance isn't as much of an issue.

If clearance (and weight) aren't an issue, then make your way to a Harley dealer and get some FREE used Harley tires.
Maybe Harleys in the back and Amzons on the front?

I've already got one of those Harley tires, and a REALLY cool Goldwing tire, but I won't be using wide rims.

Awesome, Only bad thing is I wouldn't have anywhere to put it, my shed is kinda small.

Both of mine stay outside locked onto my children's swing set. Once you've ridden it around enough, it would be hard for someone to get away with stealing it, 1) they'd have to be gutsy enough to ride it 2) people will be looking for *you* on it and 3) they don't know how to answer the tall bike questions. (how'd you get on, how do you get off of it, where'd you buy it, who made that, and how's the weather up there)

Good point. And I'd probably paint it with a ridiculous enough color I could spot it from a mile away. I'm thinking a neon fluorescent orange with camo accents. Kinda like a mobile deer stand.

Sounds like both of mine combined, I have the red/orange/yellow/white fade and the other camo.

That wasn't intentional but cool. Maybe that's a sign I need to get building. Now if the rain would stop.
