I've had my welder for about a year now and dealt with the hand held mask till this week. Mainly because I wanted to get me and my son a mask, since I couldn't afford the Hobart masks we wanted I decided to pop on a couple off amazon. Today was our first chance to get out and do some welding so I went out and got some horse shoes for a project. My son had been doing some different kinds of welding in AG class so I wanted to see what he could do with our flux core welder. after a few test beads we started on the horse shoes. After we got beyond a few strange things he had learned in school we had a great time welding up a horse shoe cross.
They work pretty good for cheapo's off amazon

Here is the cross we took turns welding together.

Good stuff. I was just showing my 10 yr old the basics the other day when I was welding up some bracket or something. he seemed interested, might have him work with me on the next chopped up bike build.
