i got a nice all original 63 firebolt from the original owner, he has always kept it inside so there is hardly any rust. its got the bendix red band 2 speed kickback hub and its got the chain oiler on the chainguard with the original felt pads. my question is its missing the tank and i havent had any luck finding one, is it gonna be possible to ever locate one of these. i bought the bike because i wanted a tank bike. i only paid 40 bucks for it and i only want to keep it if i can find a tank. i want to restore it back to new. so whats my chances on finding a tank.

Your chances are about 1 out of 100 for one that is the same color as your bike. I've been looking for a tank for my 62' Firebolt for a LONG time! You can see my bike by clicking on the link in my signature

i dont care about color or shape, i plan on restoring it and can do any body work and repaint. just need something to work with.

They do show up every now and again, in fact I sold one on here a couple of months ago. I strongly believe that the reason so many Firebolts show up without tanks is simply because the bike looks MUCH better without it! Im sure people that purchased these bikes new just took those ugly things off and tossed them soon after they got them home. Having said that, the Firebolt to me is the nicest middleweight frame design ever made and with or without a tank they are great bikes for any collection. I have 2 :D
