Question on Schwinn Springers

I have a springer on my 53 Schwinn that came off of a 59 frame, but I'm not sure if it belonged to that frame. It's the kind that has the spindle go through behind the center of the steering tube. Were those made earlier than the schwinn springers that had the spindle go through the center?

I wonder if there is a year when these were stopped being made and the other type began?

my understanding is, behind center = balloon model bike, through center = middleweight. i think the first schwinn to have the newer style was an early 60s jaguar. i wanna say 63

not a solid fact, just what ive noticed.
