I've been looking at after market Schwinn style springers. I've seen them at the local swapmeet, and I see them all over the place on ebay. The prices are all over the map, from as low as thirty bucks to over a hundred. I want one for the build I'm going to start, but I won't put a cheap piece of junk on a bike that my wife (and I) will be riding. I get the feeling that all of these may come from the same made-in-china manufacturer, and the only difference is the price. Other than hunting down an original Schwinn, Dyno, or Felt springer, what would be a good call? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated.

LBS has them for 45 to 48 in most cases... they are all made the same way I think... I have one of the new ones thats been painted... they are not bad.. but I have one of the old ones on a monarch and they are just not the same.. if the LBS
sells them .. they should hold up .. and its prolly best price you will find...

Thanks!
Bikejunky sent me a PM on a Dyno springer, and I'm going to go for it. Next step will be seeing if it all fits together, or if I get another round of playing Mickeymouse engineer.

The discontinued Electra and Dyno Schwinn-style springers are high quality, and so are the modern Felt and Nirve ones. However, just like everything they sell, the Felt springer is priced way too high.
