questionable triple tree fork configuration?

This would seem to make triple tree forks unsafe:

Removing the top bracket, and just mounting them to the bottom bracket?

The fork legs on those WCC choppers are already weak, so I would go along with you. However, some suspension forks clamp the fork legs into a single bracket just like that and hold up just fine. That being said, the rake on the front end and length of the legs would cause that to fail.

Yeah, that's a questionable set up :| My OCC forks have a little bend to them if you hit a bump hard...I'd be afraid with that one :shock:

I agree, it worries me, but gotta admit, it cleans the look up on it. Maybe if you welded the fork legs in place, but the crown is aluminum and the forks are 'steel'.............perhaps some aluminum legs and someone skilled in welding that metal.

On the other hand, how aggressively can you REALLY ride a WCC anyway? Abnormally crazy people withstanding, that is.... :roll:
I see 'choppers' as more of a 'slow ride' than a 'thrash'.

If the legs weren't made from "pot tin steel," I'd say it's fine, but they are and riding them, the way they are , is going to be a lesson in pain!

Plus, the additional leverage on the single clamp (which was designed to be used with the other clamp) will lead to breakage. It's aluminum and it won't be likely to give you a warning.
