Took the Raleigh for a nice little ride yesterday:

Turns out my buttocks isn't as forgiving as it used to be. With 90psi in the tires I felt EVERY LITTLE BUMP in the road!

I think I'm going to have to invest in a more comfortable seat for riding and put the original back on for shows. Other than that the only other thing that was uncomfortable was my hand position after a little while. The bike still rides great and looks good for being mostly original! And thanks to a couple other members here both of my boys and I will be able to bike together!

What year/model Raleigh? I've got a '72 Grand Prix that I ride frequently - I think I've put around 800 miles on it just this summer. It has an old Brooks B15 on it, which is just starting to break in to fit my butt. The leather seems hard, but it fits well and is actually reasonably comfortable, even on days when I ride to work (~45 miles roundtrip). Of course, liner biking shorts help with that. I actually found that I prefer the drop bar ride position, although if I'm carrying a weighty backpack, that position gets old quick.

The seat itself when in the right position isnt too bad really. I think it'll just require some adjusting here & there and some seat time to get the behind accustomed to it. I'll be looking at my stash of saddles to see if I have anything good.

The bike is an '84 Alyeska. The orig owner is a good friend of mine. He takes pristine care of everything he has. This bike is in practically new condition. He added the racks, pedal and bottle holder. If I remember correctly, the only things he said that weren't orig were the tires/tubes, brake cables and pads.
