I'm picking up this beast this weekend from a person who answered one of my craigslist posts. I've had a few single speed tandems come through here, but never a multi-speed. Fun to ride or just a hassle with all of the extra parts?

Fun to ride.

Not many extra parts, the cranks are the same as any bike, just needs a longer chain to connect the cranks, and the rear sprockets are a little different. Other than that, it's all standard bike parts. The longer wheelbase makes it more stable at high speeds, the wife and I rode a walmart tandem at about 30mph downhill in SC and it didn't feel dangerous at all.

With speeds, you have to let the stoker know when you are shifting or they will lose their footing.

I think that I'll need to tune this one up before heading out, if I tried to do thirty on this thing I would have to pre-dial 911 first. Thanks for the info.
