I'm not a road bike kind of guy (learned that bombing down a hill on a Schwinn Prelude in Pittsburgh) but this bike (found on Craigslist) looks awesome! They call it a "Hobo Finish." I hope he knows about this site. Here's his ad:

http://richmond.craigslist.org/bik/3272078868.html

"Hello,

Here is a Miyata 710 road bike for sale. The finish does look old, but it is brand new with 4 coats of clear coat on top of the scraped paint.
I have left this cool look to a bike so it has a unique character, and will not draw as much attention. We call it a Hobo finish.
Bike has been taken apart til the last ball bearing, cleaned greased and set for a smooth, reliable ride .
Seat tube is 56cm c-c
Top tube is 56cm c-c
Stand over height is 22.5"
Would fit someone 5"10 to 6"2'

$ 120 Cash

If you have any questions please call Balazs at 804-758-8006

Thank you"

That's about the going rate for dated journeyman road bikes. Too bad he ruined the finish. :p

Should have let it alone or painted it black. :mrgreen:

This is in Richmond, there's lots of bike theft there. The bike probably had a beat up finish and he just smoothed it out to the "Hobo Finish" I think it looks good and the price (for Richmond) isn't too bad.

I like it too! Just kind of pricey for what I had in mind to start my rat Tri bike.

If this was the "start" of something, yeah it might be a little pricey if you're just swapping out parts, but as a rider, $120 for a dialed in bike is better than the same money spent elsewhere on a rider (AKA: Wally World)

That's a good point. It's a cool idea, I've seen a few ratty road bikes around here, I've been thinking of trying one myself at some point. Thanks for posting this Yoothgeye.
