Found this idea for ratting out some handlebar grips. Thought I would share.

I did the twine thing on my burrito bike, super easy to do, and I like the way it feels.

After wrapping the twine around, I hit it with some shellac, then after it dried I used a torch to burn off the little "hairs" then slathered some more shellac over that.

Did you use anything on the bar to keep it from slipping?

Well I did wrap some electrical tape over the bars first because I wanted the grip to bulge in the middle.

As a side benefit the tape gave the twine something to grip and bite into so it didnt spin.
