I picked this up a few years ago to restore for my wife but other things kept me from getting to it. So, I am now restoring it for her and decided to go ahead and enter it in the build off! I know there is a VERY low likelihood that a ladies will win or even place but hey, what the heck! Some of you may remember when I got it. I posted it up on here but shamefully only tore it down and never did anything else with it.

NOW: Sand blasted the frame and parts.

Hoping to get it in primer in the next few days! I'm going to hit this thing pretty hard. My wife wants to be riding it this summer with the kids. For an added bonus, you guys will get to see the 1972 Corvette going together in the background! The My Fair Lady is a reference obviously to the movie, but also, the Datsun Z in the background is my personal project and is called a Fairlady Z in Japan. Mine has an LS6 Z06 Corvette motor in it though.

Welcome to RRB and the buildoff.
Good luck

Thanks! I've actually been a member for a couple years. I have a build thread for one of my other bikes. I just got busy and haven't done much bicycle stuff in the last year or so.

Testing out the lace paint on one of my welding helmets.

That's House of Kolors Zenith Gold base, HOK Red Apple Kandy Base for the lace and the fade, then HOK Pagen Gold Kandy shot over all of it, followed up by HOK Flo Kleer.

Hoping to get some paint on the bike soon.

Oh cool. I actually thought that was some backlit glass or plexiglass.

Thanks. You will get it!

This is what it looked like at the stage you're at right now. HOK (BC12?) Zenith Gold base with the KBC11 Red Apple Kandy sprayed over the lace. Just 2 colors and kind of flat looking. After this point, I did the HOK KBC11 red (Kandy Base Coat) fade with my airbrush. Then sprayed the UK12 Pagan Gold Kandy over the whole thing. I was getting pretty jazzed after the fade, but after the Pagan gold went down, I couldn't believe my eyes. Unfortunately, "experimenting" with HOK paint costs a small fortune.

It just got real...

Aw snap, full on bass boat flake attack!

Your test on your helmet came out fantastic. Very deep, rich, and vibrant. This is great idea and I bet its going to look breath taking once you start painting.

Best of luck dude.

Yeah man, that's an ol' school trick to spray gold-tinted clear coat over the top. Looks awesome!!

Also. where's that Z at?? 8)

Base coat is established on the "tins"! HOK Zenith Gold Base Coat.

and this is what I spent the majority of the day doing... Getting the Corvette in full rolling frame status! Whew! Motor and trans goes back in the frame this week!
