I went down to Newlon Metals to scrap out a few scavenged carcass bike frames (huffy and other WAL-JUNK)
Anyway I took a load in and hauled two more out with me, saw these two peeking out of a bin. Both have been spray-bombed :x but the one isn't too badly done the other looks like it was done in a dark alley at 4am with no lights........probably was....lol. I did talk to the guy who brought them in as he was pulling out and saw me looking at them and he said they were both theft recovered so I know they're not stolen :D . But I couldn't let anyone scrap a Hoffman and a Redline.

Then on the way home a guy was sorting out his garage and getting ready for a yard sale and I asked if he had any bikes, Traded a mountain bike for both of these. 8)
This one had a bent back rim and broken brake levers

This one just needed oil, 3 speed shimano hub, speedo, and other cool stuff

Then a buddy flagged me down and says he has two bikes to give me, The one was a spray bombed girls pixie (didn't get a pic but it was JUNK)
Other is a really nice Schwinn :D that just needed a tube and some oil for the chain. Surprising considering it was engulfed in a bush with some kind of red berries on it, they do stain your hands too.

Then I checked out the thrift store and found this cool shop ornament for $0.50.

Yeah the guy I got them from left them sitting in the driveway and they been there for years. Little oil and a good cleaning and they come back to life. I still prefer the Sturmey Archer 3 speeds

I wont ever ride a shimano 3 speed aka 333 once you go Sturmey you never go back xD

I've had a few SA's, I love them, but I got two Shimano 3 speeds both in women's bikes for basically free so I got to do something with them. The one (tan Huffy) I rode around the block once just to test it out before listing it. The other (baby blue murry) I just got and have yet to touch other than shuffling it into the line of bikes in the shed.

Many times I'm broke (cut hours, mortgage, debt) so the old Rat Rod philosophy "Use what you have" comes into play quite often.

I like useing what I have, sometimes I dig in my shed and find all kinds of treasures I never knew I owned. I had the Idea of the cafemocca maker thing, mount it on a bike that generate enough power to run it and make a steam whistle xD. all the bikes i'm finding now, with exeption of department store bikes are being crammed tight beside my shed after repaired to be sold off after winter

Same here, I got a bunch hoarded back to sell next spring, just polish them up and start selling.

Well I got the purple Schwinn cleaned up and my mother saw it listed on c-list and asked me about it so I got the Huffy 3 speed back and she got a new bike. I also started sanding on the Redline, there were LAYERS of paint CAKED on it. Red, white, blue, gold, black, silver, green, another gold, and some kind of color that looked like blackish brown with a hint of green that looks like something you'd find inside a diaper, and the original white fade to black that was really rough. So I stripped it to bare metal and went with some leftover army green I had on the shelf for the time being. I will re-do it later but I just wanted to see it together and one color. I'll get more pics tomorrow. Eventually I'll either go raw , black, or red. kinda leaning tword red, since it is a Redline.
