I am finally getting around to building my daughter's Bantam. I picked up a springer fork from another RRB member to use on this frame, but the top tube on the fork is too short for the head tube on the frame. I am trying to get this together for her birthday on Nov 6th. Can anyone lead me in the right direction to get a longer replacement tube? Please please please!

If you have access to a welder- cut the steer tube about 1" above the fork crown. Find a piece of pipe that will slip inside the steer tube that is about 1 1/2" longer than what you need to make it fit and just lengthen the steer tube.

What I do is get another fork off a discarded or scrap bike cut the fork you are using about 1/2" above the lower race or a little higher. Cut the doaner fork steerer to the length you need when added to original fork have them welded together I ran a threaded rod through mine to hold them in alignment while welding . make sure you can slide the lower race over the weld or just leave it on when being welded. hope this helps

Longer Springer steerers are availaible out there new.Look for one for a 26" bike. Then you may have to thread it down then cut it.Good Luck.

OR cut the head tube to fit the shorter one that you have...
