Recent Aquisitions (pic heavy)

I'm still a bit of a newbie to the rat rod world but I am jumping into it with both feet and learning as much as I can daily. Things are pretty dry around here as far as vintage goes but that also means that most people don't know what they have either. These are a couple of things I have picked up lately.

A CWC Roadmaster (Morrow hub dated '41). I found this one on CL and offered the guy $20. I'm thinking of stripping and repainting but keeping it original but if anyone has any input I'd take a listen. If anyone has a lead on a tank for this one I'd be interested.

A Monark ?Americana? I cant find much info about this one so any info would be appreciated. Traded a ladies Raleigh Tourist for this one. Also thinking about keeping this original and cruising it.

Very nice finds, I wish I could get some like that down here. I had much better luck up in MI... TN seems to be fairly dry on vintage iron.

I think the first bike might be a Snyder bike, but I really am not sure. Hopefully some one can verify/correct that.

I second the Huffy call on the second one. Super cool finds, and I too would definitely keep #2 as is! :mrgreen: It looks like it would clean up very nicely. Those Bendix 2 speed hubs are really nice.

The Huffy is good to go just as it is. I would clean, lube, and wax it down to bring out the color and ride. I've never tried out a standard 2 speed, but I hear they shift very smoothly. It looks like it hasn't been ridden much, if those are the original pedals, no wear to speak of. The hand grips aren't scraped from hitting then ground or anything. The tires are probably not original, as the rear wheel has been off and on a few times, unless they just fixed flats and kept the original tires.There's no marks on the chain guard from the crank bearings getting worn and letting the cranks rub it. That bike looks like it has many miles left on it.

It's a CWC bike alright, curved rear frame stays. And Road Master was CWC's private brand, and the sprocket is typical CWC. Monarks were 1/2" pitch 99% of the time, with the same pattern, and CWC's were 1" pitch 99%. There have been a couple bikes that make up the 1 % difference, but I believe the 1/2" CWC is flat, the Monark is dished, like a Schwinn sprocket. Also some late 40s Huffmans used the same 1/2" as Monark, but not many! -Adam
