Recovering bike seats?

I have the original seat for my 55 schwinn and its pretty rough can they be recovored or should i just look for one in better shape? I dont know if people who do car seats/upholstery can do them or not?

some upholstery shops can and will , depending on how much u are willing to spend , upholstery shops can be pricey . so will be a cost decision.
