They look like repop grips to me. I've never seen original Schwinn grips from the 40's-50's that used that color of red. The seller is the guy who has the museum and charges outrageous prices for most of his stuff. Beware. Gary

Gary,I was thinking the same thing. This ain't my first Rodeo, but I just didn't know if the grips darkened with age. The price is absolutely absurd anyway. Thanks a bunch for confirming.

Those look like walmart take offs and bad ones at that on the ends, I have had the tear drop versions that were pretty nice ( and less than half the price ) I stuck on this a while back.

I have one original Schwinn Red Teardrop and will probably just try to buy another Orphan when I get ready to build. I would have liked to get Ovals, as the Frame is a 1940 DX I got from Jaxon. Not a big deal right now, because I'm still gathering parts for a custom Hiawatha build I'l post soon.

The first year Schwinn used the "early oval" grips was '41. I think a '40 would still have the ball end grips. Gary
