This is my early '90s GT Timberline resto mod. It's a light project I took on as self prescribed therapy to help rehab my injured thumb. It worked splendidly. The thumb is doing much better and the bike is looking and riding great! It started out as this super high-bar comfort (?) bike setup that I bought just for the frame. It's the same model, vintage and color as the bike I rode in college back in the '90s. I had bought that bike new but it was very used by the time I gave it to a friend in the early 2000s.
Down to the bare essentials:
The idea was to build this bike as if it was my original that I had kept and upgraded with more modern parts over time. I wanted to have a 1x drive train, disc brakes and comfortable ergos. All accomplished and it's pretty awesome now. Build thread can be found here:

This 1x setup is fantastic! All the gearing I need with a low enough granny for the long steep climbs around here.
