Royce Union Japanese commuter

really nice old Japanese Royce Unioin, lugged frame, chrome fenders and chainguard, white wall tires and this strange shimano 2 cable grip/throttle shifter, I have it on CL for 225 if anyone is interested.

The bike appears to be a 10 speed...Interesting..Looks like an early twist shifter...I see them as 3 speeds..but never saw a 10 speed..Can you take a few pictures of the shifter and rear Derailleur

clean commuter! the first kind of bike i ever built up, b4 cruisers was something similar to this, but with an old huffy tradewinds.

anyways, i think the 2 cable shimano shifter system was shimano's POSI-TRON set up. funky shimano shwag i put up there with their freewheeling front chainrings from around the same era. :roll:

Here are some links about that shifting system. It was the precursor to the Positron system.

There are even some patents and owners manuals.
