I find it a fun challenge to make a bike like that very ride-able again while maintaining that untouched look. It's all in what you want. If you want a cool rat, leave that originality intact. But most people here tend to like shiny things.
Usually, boiled linseed oil. Available at hardware stores, it shines and protects. Should be reapplied yearly. That shiny rust look that Rat Pilot posted might be the best way to go with this build. Makes it look like it's been rubbed down with used motor oil. Very cool!
Apes! Some more progress. Can’t decide on handle bars. View attachment 136289View attachment 136290View attachment 136291View attachment 136292
Thank you for the info. It’s very helpful. I had fun with this build off & learned a lot. I moved Finished photos to class 2 finished build. Thanks to everyone that put the build off on. It’s a very cool activity. And I look forward to the next one.So, Ron, yeah if you do a frame mod, cut and weld like you did on this build, then it is definitely Class 2. I didn't check to see if you moved it over there or not. Secondly, we usually like to see a photo of the 'drive side', shows off the chain guard if there is one (there is on yours) and it's kind of the 'best side' for presentation of the bike. Oddly, (no pun intended) all of your photos above are of the 'non drive side' of your build?
