I had an old rack laying around, it was pretty beat down, one mount nearly broken off from an air gone all wrong, pannier interfearence between the earth and rack.
My wife wants, "saddle bags," like the old motorcycle/horse bags that have 2 straps. Not pratical for real loads but looks cool.
Looking at the rack on her bike I had clairity and saw this;
I have no idea of the brand rack it was, tubular aluminium, that I hulled out the center with an electric hack saw, then cleaned it up with a file and black marker.
Note I mounted it backwards, it made a nice handle for moving the beast.
One more shot so of the mounting, I used a coaster brake band, strip of 1/8" X 3/4" aluminium strip, bent and drilled as needed!
This was easy and cheap, I remember getting the rack and a truck bag off e-bay for less than $25.00 with shipping. Obviously the truck bag resides else where!
Now I just have to wait for her to decide which bags to make into panniers.....
