I always did like a 26" tire stuffed between Silverking seatstays.

EDIT: Sorry. TMI?

:D
I didn't like fenders on the FloCycle because I think they take away from the sexy rear end curves that frame has. The regular SK frame are much like regular frames, so I took advantage of it and tried out my triple ducktail fenders.

The 'racktank' actually fits this frame's straight bar better IMO.

I think you are right. I pulled up these two picks and flipped back and forth to see the difference. I do think the "racktank" fits the regular SK frame better.

I was skeptical at the first suggestion, but once the custom parts were transferred from one bike to the other, it kinda grows on you. I take it you'll swap the cranks and other modern parts, as well? No argument that this is a better solution than to start again with the Higgins frame.

The rack tank does fit better on the new frame, not as much tube sticking out of the ends. I think you've got something here.

For the record, and I think I've already told you. But my wife and I enjoyed the ride around Savannah.

I like it man still a great frame as a close cousin. Of course not as unique as salt hammer 1 but should still be a very cool bike .
Ride on brother ride on ...

This is such a tough update to post. Last night I finally had some time to bring SaltHammer back into the shop. I went ahead and sanded the rims and layed one coat of red on them.

Feeling good, I removed the rear wheel and test fit the SRAM Automatix hub. Just as I was getting the chain back on the front sprocket, I saw this and my heart sunk.

This is the downtube right above the BB. It's the same place that CeeBee had repaired when he brought this frame back to life. The original outer aluminum tube is cracking in the same place close to the BB as well as the approximate location when the tube was sliced to insert the supporting inner sleeve. It lasted for a few rides from each of the three owners (CeeBee, Jarod, and me). All of us felt the repair was sufficient, but unfortunately the fates decided otherwise. I am not knocking the repair at all. It was documented in detail and was a well thought out and executed attempt. Unfortunately for my big butt, it wasn't enough. I have options to fix it, but none of those are going to occur before the Build Off. I'll cash in my frame change voucher.
Oh man! That really bites! I'm sorry to hear this, at least you had a backup frame.

Riding with y'all was a treat for me too. I enjoyed checking out rELEVENt Setback and the camaraderie. I love my city and it was fun being able to share it. Glad I was part of the RS Grand Tour!

Wow what a nightmare. Lucky it didn't get much worse. Good luck on the new version. Still a fabulous build hope to see more

Bummer about the repair breaking: inevitable really. Good thing is, the tube can be replaced and the frame brought back out at some point. Keep going..

Played around a little with the Flo and the SK today.
Stripped most of the parts off of the FloCycle.
Took the skiptooth cranks and chain from the Silver King. I'm not sure if I am going to go with the modern redline cranks anymore. I'm leaning towards a Monark paisley with dogleg that I have.
Took the bike outside and tested my WF skirtguard on it. We'll see if it sticks or not. If I go with it, I may forego a chainguard and just have cutouts for the chain to slide through. Undecided right now.
The fenders will probably get some different paint other than black.

Put the longhorn cross bars on and tested the light again

While in my shop the cool selzer bottle caught my eye. I've always thought this would make a cool tank, but another idea popped in my head.

Who knows if this idea will stick either, but I had to capture it while it was in my head.

I like the more elongated shape of your bottle. Here's a thought....could you cut it in half and pierce the bottle with the head tube to pull it back into the frame a bit more?

I kinda like the seltzer bottle idea, it looks cool. And I now have Louis Armstrong music in my head.

aw man, that's a tough break...hate when that happens.
But there's 'something' about this look here that is really cool.
I'd pursue that some, I'll tell ya. LOVE IT>
I think I like this look as much as, maybe even a little better than the orig.

Kingfish, you'll persevere....you're the fastest swapper- outer of parts that I've seen yet.

Yeah that last picture does make you think of Satch doesn't it.
