sanding. I know there is an end but I been at it for weeks. Fill pits, prime and sand. Repeat. Argh. May be spraying a little color tonight after dinner though.

Ah yes... but 90% of an awesome paint job is in the prep work! You will be rewarded for all that hard work.

The only thing I can suggest for the future, use a high build primer. if your using spray bomb primer... its a little thin and doesnt offer much in the way of thickness to help actually fill the low spots. So high build will probably save you some time.

I did use high build but this bike was so pitted it was tough. I got it though. Glad I stuck with it. Got the stripe color on the wheels tonight. Gonna make my pinstripes in the morning and lay down the contrast/two-tone color on all the other parts. It is going to be sharp.

Here is a before pic:

I have actually had good luck with spray can primer, but I take the time to wet-sand each coat and use 3 coats of it before my basecoat, wet-sanding between each coat, Top coat, again wet sanding between each coat and my 3 coats of clear, buffing, and polishing. Ah the work....lol. That's why my Huffy is flat black, no primer, no sanding, just removed the decals and sprayed it.

Results. I finished painting today and clearcoated everything. Those are painted graphics, not decals. The WF chainguard, the cast Monark fork and the double step hoops will be for sale soon. After I had everything hanging in the garage, I felt a little like the last photo from the fumes. :!:

Beautiful job John........you get a deal on red paint

I'm guessing thats a Grand National in the picture based on the Mickey's hanging on the wall. Whats it run?

About $350 every 6 months. It sits, haha. I re-bushinged the upper control arms this spring and added new front tires.

The sibling to this bike was red so that made my decision easy on color choice.

LOL  I'm with you on that. I have a supercharged Mustang Cobra that has been driven once last year and once this year and about 800 miles total in the last 4 years.
