Picked up this wagon at the KKOA show in Salina. It was built by Sav-Way Industries in Detroit, MI as best I can determine.

It has been repainted but appears to have been red and black, wheels were red.

I washed and wiped it down with WD40. It is built heavy and after some lube it rolls, coasts nicely.

Well I'm one to never leave well enough alone so I tore it down this morning. Heavy duty and some nice little details compared to other wagons I've worked with.
The wheel bearings are interesting in that they are comprised of horizontal roller rods surrounding the axle. They fall out when you unknowingly just pull the wheel off. I used some spikes on the other three to keep the pins in place.

Ghost graphics still there on sides.

Think I'll have this one blasted, paint removal isn't one of my favorite things, at least the pan. Powder coat would be nice but too expensive for what this is.

New work table is very handy and stable!

Stripped hub caps and prepped one wheel for paint. Not wanting to do the tedious masking of tire to wheel connection I used brushed paint. Not certain I'll stay with the sand color. The original wheel color matched the wagon bed.

A little degrease, strip, sand and prime on undercarriage parts. Pretty simple stuff.

Very cool. I love old wagons. Can't wait to see it finished. I think this is the same wagon I had as a kid too.

Wagon bed went for powder coating, wheels done, undercarriage parts painted hammered black and graphics are done. Assembly around the corner.

Looks like you've got a good one going there, Ed.
I'm either going to try my hand at one of these, or go with a vintage mtb build. Mountain bikes built before 1996, so they are at least 20 yrs old. Since the first ones were only in production in 1983, anything in the late '80s - early '90s are the hot items.

Nice restoration. Do you have another one qued up for the possible build off?

Carl.
This old rusty Sears with Radio Flyer wheels may be in the mix. It was a paint test for the Yankee Clipper I did.

I did some assembly today and added graphics. I need to find a couple of axle washers and cotter keys.

I have one I’m currently doing myself. Given to me by my father in law. Was his late wife’s when she was a child. All there and not in really bad shape for the age. However missing one hubcap. Any suggestions? Thank you

For the hubcap you might have a long search, these weren’t as prolific as RadioFlyers. Good luck and have fun.
