New to the forum, thought I'd share my build so far.
Found a Schwinn Cruiser in a bit of a bad state so I thought I'd try something. It was like this one but red and rusty...

that's as far as I've got :D , not sure about the colour yet maybe a candy apple red....

Thanks guys for the positive comments, this is my first go at doing a build like this so its been a sharp learning curve. I'm not sure if I'm going to use fenders, I'm trying to do it as cheap as possible and only use stuff I've got lying around. I'm not happy with the looks of the forks (I filed off the brake bosses today)and the stem, I'm thinking of trying to build something a little bit different but the weight of the tubing I have is pretty heavy.
My next problem is the paint-job, been looking around trying to get some ideas but not really sure if I should go for a 2 tone with pin stripes or keep it simple and clean.

I put some wheels and an old road bike stem on yesterday to try and figure out how it will look. Today I'm going to try and make a new stem from the excess downtubing so the curve follows through and weld on the handlebars. I'm going to weld the seatpost in aswell I think, 1 to add some strength and 2 to give it a clean look. I've been thinking about switching forks, there's something not right with the looks of the schwinn ones, but they might grow on me a bit more after a few drinks.

Wow that is awsome ! I may have to steal the chain gaurd trim idea.

Looks pretty good thus far. I think you`re right about the forks, something just isn`t flowing with `em. You have smooth, curvy lines with the frame then the sharp edges with the fork. Kind of clashing a bit if ya ask me but everything else is spot on  8) Even the Cinelli stem works lol it has a nice flow to it.

I wouldn't cut any corners on this one...
You've already got a great start.
Even if it takes longer do it right, because this bike is worth it!

Thanks for the positive comments guys, got a little bit of work done on the stem and handlebars this afternoon.. hopefully going to weld it up this weekend.

 Wow that is cool, I never thought a newer Schwinn could look that good. Are you going to paint it or leave it raw?

I was thinking about leaving it raw steel, but a good friend is trying to convince me otherwise. I got a bit more done yesterday and ended up putting it together for a ride today. I'm going to beat it around a bit for a few days to make sure the welds hold up.
