my neighbor brought this over sat afternoon. he asked me if it was worth 15 bucks to me.
he just got it from a yard sale for that much and bought it for me.
mid to late 60s schwinn traveler. script brakes SA 3spd. some cool stuff.

Looks good, all there except the seat, but it matches pretty well. Is that a repaint? If not, that Schwinn paint will shine up nice, as well as the chrome. It was good quality back then. The serial number should be on the rear dropout, post the first few letter/digits here and you'll know the exact month and year.

the seat looks even better up close.it'll probably up for sale/trade here soon.
the #s are on the left drop-out. i aint looked 'em up yet.

yeah, it was re-painted by someone. not a sloppy job, but not a great job. i can still see the original decals under the paint but is does look like it was at least dis-assembled not taped off.
i havent looked up the #syet, but the pedals have reflectors w/ the littles arrows. i believe schwinn came out w/ those in '64.
the bike came w/ a post-it note(from the yard sale) that said 1950s schwinn.
the oddest thing so far is the pinch bolt in the stem...i took it out to check/change the handlebar..
the bar didnt say schwinn in the clamp area. no worries.
but...the bolt on the stem(to clamp the bar) was an odd thread.
it was not fine or coarse SAE. i thought schwinn wouldnt have used metric in the 60s but i checked that also. no luck.
i went to the best hardware store around and couldnt find any thread pitch that matched,so i gave up.
this morning it hit me!!!if most of this stuff was made in england in the 60s could it be whitworth?
i dunno. just a thought
and the seat is a "bike pals" made in japan....i just figured this bike may be a mutt.
a little more research is needed before i do something stupid w/ it

i ran the #s fri nite.
its a 1963.
still not sure what to do w/ it.
maybe put it in the attic for now. igot to much stuff i gotta circumnavigate around in the garage
