I'm considering putting a Velo Orange leather saddle one of my Schwinn lightweights. VO makes a Brooks 66 style saddle that looks old and is traditional in most ways, except that it uses the more modern, single rail chassis. This gives it a great amount of adjustment capability, while still looking old. I'm very fond of leather Brooks-style saddles, and the VO looks like a decent alternative.

What I'd like to know is, does there exist a clamp that will adapt the VO type single-rail saddle directly to the original Schwinn, thin top seat post? This post isn't the English/Raleigh type size, but is the traditional/American, thin-top type one they used on the old lightweights and balloon tire Schwinns. Does such an adapter clamp exist?

Wald made a shim for 7/8 clamps to 5/8 seatposts. I don't think they still do, but older shops may have some floating around.

Having said that, I'd get a 13/16 with 7/8 top solid post made. You'll be much happier if the bike's a rider.
