Schwinn-approved single speed

Hey guys, I have an early 70's Schwinn Suburban 5 speed that I would like to convert to a single speed, preferably using the Schwinn wheels. Does anybody know if a bmx freewheel (suntour, shimano, etc) will fit? Thanks. Darren

A BMX freewheel will fit, all freewheels share the same thread pitch, unless it is some odd French threading....

I sold one last summer and the crank had the freewheel, not the wheel. It was weird to watch the gears turning and I wasn't pedaling. My lbs guy said the gears on the hub are fixed, so can they still be swapped?
