i think were all spoiled when it comes to bikes around here.
would i pay $700 for that bike? no way, no how.
That being said, thats a nice bike. (correct or not) i can visualize how that price came about.
paid too much for the original beater ($100)
threw a couple hun worth of parts/powder coat at it ($200) possibly more.
10 to 20 hours labour factored in at $10-$20 an hour ($200) more if he paid somebody else to do it.
and a $200 profit margin to bicker with/ make the build worth while.
And when the right person comes along with too much money, and absolutely no skills to do it him/herself, that bike will probably go fo $500-$600.
its strange how we here all seem to belittle our skills when it comes to restoring/revamping old bicycles.
if that were an old dinning room table ya wanted refinishing, the price tag would be in the hundreds, maybe even the thousands. and thats just for sanding and paint (stain clear coat)
the suggested price of $100, probably wouldn't cover the new parts and shipping alone. ($250-$300)
might cover parts and powdercoat.
again, now way no how would i pay that price (i'd do it myself for a fraction of the cost)
i'm just sayin'
