Schwinn brake noise help

Hey All,
I got a '70s Schwinn Suburban from my uncle over the weekend. Rides great but the front brake squealed like crazy. The old red shoe was worn pretty bad so I put new brakes on it and it was fine for a few rides but now is starting to make noise again.
I know it's got to be staring me in the face but I'm missing something obvious. Is there an adjustment I'm not figuring out?
This shows that I still have lots to learn from you guys.
Any help as always would be appreciated.

Try to clean the rim, sometimes a dirty or rough braking surface can cause the pad not to grab right.

Would chrome polish help?

Adjust the pads just a little so they are not directly across/inline from each other, maybe tilt one up and the other down just a little i have good luck with that idea.
