Being a TOTAL moron when it comes to Schwinn bicycles. I'm doing some research for a future build that will incorporate a classic Schwinn (Chicago built) cantilever frame. A major goal of the project is to use this type of tank:

My question is will any 'B6'-based frame, be it a ballooner, middleweight, Heavy-duti,etc.. take this type of tank?

For giggles, I pulled some frame pics off of eBay (thanks Easywind Vintage Bicycles) and superimposed a 1964 Jaguar (middleweight I believe) on top of a 1950 Phantom (ballooner) and they seem to line up.

Am I on point with my thinking?
So, aside from the newer Chinese-built bikes are there any year/makes I should avoid?

All input would be GREATLY appreciated.

Cheers!

that tank will fit all of the schwinn canti bikes although...i had one on the frame that became the galt hooligan and it fit fine for me but when karfer got the tank and frame he was saying it didnt really fit well(i also fit it to my b6 w/o problems)....so you may have to play around with it to get it perfect

i used a nos repop phantom tank on a 57 cantilever frame and it fit but had gaps along the top tube. maybe more along the bottom. i forget, its been a while. im sure i just needs a little tweeking but that was last winter and it was cooooold.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info. Getting funding for my projects is tough without having to explain why I need to buy another frame, because it won't fit the tank!

Now I have find a donor frame, a CHEAP donor frame!

Cheers!
