This prewar straight bar Excelsior came out of Montana about 10yrs ago, and it has been looking forlorn and lonesome sitting around stripped of its' drivetrain parts, wheels and other components which were used on some other projects. The 50's fork is all original acquired in Texas back in the early 80's.
I decided to get it on the road again, so built up a wheelset featuring a Sturmey S3C rear and Sunshine QR front hubs, matching DT Swiss 400 gram rims, 14/15 Wheelsmith spokers with 7075 DT nipples & Bontrager 2.0 tires. Schwinn crankset & grips, KMC chain, 48t-18t sprockets, and cheap alumninum bomber-tough rebuildable pedals, alloy seatpost with Hope QR, and Bontrager saddle. Built it up for a good buddy in order to get him off his cheaper. less cool Electra. Here are a coulpa pics below. Sorry about the short build thread.
