Would a 60s Schwinn middleweight fork(Typhoon,Panther etc...) fit on a middleweight 60s bike from Murray,Huffy or a different manufacturer. I know the seat posts are unique to Schwinns but I'm not really sure on the headtube/fork.

ya, they will fit,... the headsets weren't always the same but the steerer treads usually were..

some other bikes used the 13/16s seat post as well...

I agree- they should fit properly at the bearing cups, and the top nut and hardware should swap right onto them.

American made forks of this era all use 26tpi "bicycle" thread, so they're mostly interchangeable given the same steer tube length.

Imported frames used by some manufacturers, and later (post 1980) bikes I wouldn't guarantee anything- metric components and different designs come into play and you will have to experiment to see what will work with what.
