So my schwinn typhoon (1963) has the usual oval headbadge only it's not marked "Chicago" at the bottom. I've seen some oldies before that have the same badge. Any idea what's up with this?

I think they started putting "Chicago" on the headbadge after it no longer went without saying.... :( in 1963 it didn't need saying...

I've been curious about this too. I have one that says Chicago and one without, then I have a few bikes with the round Schwinn headbadge, one I know is 1989, but I can't find a "made in" anywhere on the bike. Another is a High Sierra older mountain bike and a girls road bike probably late 80s too.

Also, how do you read the little numbers stamped into the head badge?
