Schwinn Heavy Duti Build Locations?

Howdy!

Looking to get my first bike for about six weeks now and discovered a 1977 Schwinn Heavy Duti almost in my backyard. The price is right, but what resource can tell me whether this bike was built in Chicago or some other country?

I'd say yes. Schwinn in Chicago was there til about 1980 or something.

Turns out I'm a bit too big for the bike. It's been a problem for me at 6'2" 220.

Taller seat post an different bars will solve that problem. :|

You probably won't find a used one but electra has a tall cruiser, I'd check that out.

Thanks James - I had the "Tall" steel Electra which was stolen.

Been looking for something similar in alloy, but nothing jumps out so far.
3G is looking very promising - a very comfortable ride for sure.

Yeah the 3G looks pretty good. That HD frame is pretty small for sure. I'm rebuilding one right now and was surprised how small it is for a 26" bike. I think the electra can be set up to fit just about anybody though. The Felts also seem a little small.

ok there you go. I did a lot of bike shopping over the last few months. im 5-8 and I couldn't believe how many bikes felt like I was riding a kids bike. I wish I found a place that had the 3g around here, I am liking it.
