Schwinn Heavy Duti Question!

Hello Everyone! Can anyone tell me when they started making the Heavy Duti? I thought they were made for only a couple years like 78 and 79. I have one that I haven't ran numbers on yet. Have to remove the gum and tar of a cheap rattle can job first. Thanks for any help anyone can offer.

I think the only true differences between them and a standard middleweight are the saddles, wheelsets and the use of 'tractor tires' (a.k.a. knobbies)

From what i could find 1965 was the first year for a Heavy Duti although prior to that there where American and Wasp Heavy Duti models.

Yep, I have a 65 HD (which has S-7 rims, HD spokes), as well as a 62 Wasp HD, with S-2s. -Adam

I have one also, I'll have to go check the serial number, I don't think I ever bothered to date it. The bike's currently in my "storage facility".

I'd like to see more HD photos!!!

Thanks guys! I haven't even found my numbers yet. Lots of grime and barn dust and grease. It has painted fenders if that says anything. I was thinking that most late models I had seen had chrome. It does have tractor tires and was black with white decals. Big ol' cool black saddle. S 7 wheels with the heavy spokes. Thanks for everyones input. I will research some more and see what else I can find.
