I bought my Son a Schwinn BMX in the 80's.
If I recall (which is iffy), all the Schwinn BMX's
that I saw in the showroom had names of old
automatic transmissions, like Torqueflite, etc....
The one I ended up getting him was called a
Hydromatic.
I think the "G" at the beginning of the number
means the frame was made by Giant (??)

Well there you go kev you said u never owned a schwinn Now ya do! Ha

cool Hooch..
apparently the one I just posted isn't worth anything..
and it's all stuck in the head and bottom,

so I will send this one back to the Recycle Gods..

thanks to all for the help..

Kev,

Too bad about the headset and bottom bracket. It's always good to have spare small parts like that on hand. Who here doesn't have a collection of incomplete headsets? I know I do.

Might be worth putting it up for sale on the Schwinn site. Sting's are the big dogs, but Scramblers do have a little bit of a following. Mag Scramblers mostly, but someone may want it.
