Schwinn Meridian

I am on the lookout for a nice tryke for the wife. I really like the simplicity of the Trailmate Desoto with its coaster brakes tall handlebars and large western seat. Basically the same bike as my Sun tryke which I love. Got offered a near mint Meridian for 100.00. A great deal but I really dont like it. Sure its pretty but cheap China Walmart quality IMO. I dont like the sway back handlebars the 3 piece crank (cant experiment with gearing very easily). 9lus has a standard bike seat. Does anyone have firsthand experiance with the Schwinn and if so how do you like it?. I havent seen a Meridian in person and was wondering about how easy it was to pedal too.

I'm looking for one for a store bike, but I want to try to remove the rear end and replace it with a wheel.
I think the Walmart bikes are fine as long as you just ride them, no stunts. This includes curbs.

This is the 100.00 Schwinn. They look nice but I just dont like what I have read about them. The price on this one seems fair.

Don't like them. They are all over the place for 100-150. Have two neighbors that have them.....don't like how they ride compared to the Desotos (have 2 of them). They both like my bikes better! As you mentioned, the tall bars and tractor seat make all the difference. The Schwinns in my opinion are very flimsy and not as solid as the Desoto. Also have an older Miami Sun and I like that better than the Schwinn also. Have had many opportunities to get the Schwinn cheap but I passed each time. Just feel awkward riding them...shape and position of bars, uncomfortable seat, noisy and wobbly.........

I had one of them long enough to fix it up and trade it, Id take a sun over the Meridian any day. Now if I had a chance to snag the bars off a Meridian I would.

I hate those Meridian bars. Thats one of the turn offs to me. I love the hi rises on my sun and I like the huge seat too. I wonder if the Sun and Trailmates are the same imported trykes because they look identical.
