Before you post derogatory comments about Pacific and/or it's marketing and consumer strategies and/or it's products, please remind yourself who provides you these Forums at their expense. Biting the hand that feeds you and all that.

Before you disparage a retailer like Wal-Mart, remind yourself that you only saw specific products inside Wal-Mart because you yourself were shopping in Wal-Mart. You were not shopping at the local mom & pop shop. It begs the question "why?" Because Wal-Mart offers superior pricing and value for the items you need and want, including bicycles.

Those who insist on soiling the carpet in Pacific's house will be escorted out, if you know what we mean.

Thanks.

I saw that when posted. Seems a little unprofessional for a big corporation. I see where they are coming from, but it could of been said in a way more becoming of a huge corporation.

"Biting the hand that feeds you and all that. "
"Those who insist on soiling the carpet in Pacific's house will be escorted out,"

Course this arguement could go the way of the pros and cons of Walmart.
Just finished the book "The Walmart Effect". A good read to get an education of the retailing world to come.

Not to get into a walmart rant, BUT:

Try to find a copy of the documentary "walmart-the high cost of low prices"
http://www.walmartmovie.com/
I checked out one from my local library. VERY interesting viewing...

I noticed this too. Wal-Mart is notorious for beating the crap out of their vendors, threatening "get your price down or you can't sell at Wal-Mart, if you can't sell at Wal-Mart, you're not going to be able to compete"

Hence, why you can buy a DVD player for $20 now. Then everyone thinks a DVD player should cost $20 - pretty soon, other stores carry shoddy products to compete with Wal-Mart. Companies sacrifice material quality, process and all kinds of quality assurance measures to get their price low enough just to get on the shelf.

It's no secret, Pacific bikes are horrible. Supporting them supports foriegn markets and sends the message that it's ok to export production. I like the Schwinn forums, lots of helpful info on there but it is no secret that their new bikes are, well, you know.

hey

There right, they could have put it another way, But pacific does make some sweet bikes, Check this out! (built out of all garbage picked parts!!)

Just thunkt id share that witcha.. Yeah schwinn forum dudes coulda like talked nicer about that.. Uh huh

I hear ya...

I'm surprized the E-bay links I've thrown up on their site to the 2006 'Select series' (Ghosts/Sting-ray/Spoiler) auctions that are being liquidated on e-bay have not been deleted...guess they just want that product 'out of the system' and close the chapter.

Great buys though

I'd rather spend my time here anyway. Does me no good to read a million posts about, "I found this, what's it worth? I got this, what can I sell it for??"

I hate how when a nice Krate/Sting-ray is for sale...they never have a price. 'Educated offers' LOL The 'inner-circle' seems to know the prices. How do you learn the going value of these old schwinns???

Some day I will own a vintage Krate...for now the repops make me happy.

Other than that is is fun to 'joke' with the purests

All I know is Krates are $1000-$2000 in most cases, which is absurd. Pretentious collector BS makes me angry, so I use that site as a resource, but spend much time on it? No. They could escort me out, but I wouldn't bother wasting much time over there talking smack on Pacific anyway. I commend them on making bikes out of gum wrappers!!

That's true. I saw a new Jaguar at Target today for $99 and kind of stood there thinking "that's worth it just for that...and that" (parts-wise)

It had some nice handlebars and pretty cool seat.

We sell pacific bikes and they seem decent enough for the $$

I work for a retail store and wal mart is right across the parking lot from us (literally) anyway, they sell the same bikes that we do for 1/2 the cost but my store sells more bikes!

I figure they must know that i assemble them better.

get any shipped to ya from OLNEY, IL, thats the big distibuting pant ound my neck of the woods for Pacific/Schwinn, my LBS gets there "2nds" from there, thats were I need to go dumpster diving

Ha Ha...yeah....they definitely don't like links to other sites.

Of course, we all know that my forum will put Pacific out of business because, well, I don't sell anything....except T-shirts, and yeah, that will somehow ruin the whole cheap Chinese made bike empire...LOL!

I just have to laugh at em'.

Bringing it up again. replied to a post about custom decals and explained what I did to make "Black Rat". I added "Don't worry I used a Huffy to make this Krate-like rat."

My post was gone this morning. They must feel good about deleting post that mention competitors or clones.
