schwinn #'s can you help?

Ok i got this schwinn frame the other day and i cant find the serial number on the charts. The number is F896681 and it is on the left drop out. The frame has been brush painted black but the color under it is a cool looking candy red with this white checker board pattern on the seat tube. Sure would like to know what year it is. Can you help me?

Did you check out the schwinn serial number thing at http://www.oldroads.com? If it is a pre 1948 bike all of the records were lost in a factory fire and there is very little to go by other than a catalogue search.

Sounds like a 58 Schwinn Tiger. The F8 in the code is June 1958. Got a picture?
