So.. ive seen wooden bars before, i love em. whats the consensus on wood bars? Safe? Strong enough? It seems like there must some chemical soak to faux/speed petrify or harden the wood?

If that's Oak, it will hold. I've seen entire bikes built of the stuff...

Which isn't to say that some boiled Linseed Oil, Gunstock Finish or Lacquer wouldn't help protect it, as would Spar Varnish...

Little more progress.

Filed the bars down a bit more to fit a new brake lever. Shortened up the cable. Switched to an old OEM Schwinn cable cover.

I would like to see some moon handlebars, a large troxel seat w/ crash rail, some tabs on the rear axle for mounting the woody fenders on both rear tires, and a nice wooden cargo box finished to match the fenders. But that is just my opinion.

Unless you have very long arms, the laid back seat post with those bars looks to be an uncomfortable ride to me.

Im 6'4" with the long arms you mentioned so the post was a plus for me. It has a mountain bike riding position for me now. Pretty happy with at the moment. Handlebars are too cheap not to keep experimenting though. So we'll see.

Kool looking trike.
I would go for another choice in bars like a little bit more of a rise to them and as for the rear wheels I would match it to the front wheel.. The white hoop(s) look more to match the two tone scheme on the frame..

The bar will likely change but for now its different and im ok with it. The wheels are more difficult.

I took it out on its maiden ride yesterday just after the photo. The seat it too low for my height. I was gassed out after a 1/4 mile. Otherwise happy.

IMO the tires should match all around. Fireball tread for the front and trailer?

You could do a fake wood print treatment on the steel cruiser bars if those would be a better reach. I've seen other wood handle bars with some curve. I have a pile of oak branches I've been letting age for bike projects. I've seen faked wood grain rims too.
