Schwinn Spitfire IV

I didnt know what to name it but i like roman numerals...so there we are.

I was bored today so i decided, Why not customize this bike? The kid i got it from had nothing but problems with it...I put pegs on it for him, cheap rusted ape hangers and then he brought it to me and said "i think this bike might kill my little sister" (The handlebars broke and left a really jagged edge) Ill sell it to you...So i agreed. I still have to pay him but im sure he will want it back when he sees it.(HAH)

It was basically all original except the parts noted above. I Swapped out the wheels from the original S-7's(?) and put some good old balloon tires on it thanks to crassly. I then Put a different raked schwinn fork on it(youve all seen it before) and some different bars. I love the look of it, and i dont know if i even want the chainguard he still has. Im supposed to get a red headbadge from boardtrack fan, which i think will set this bike off.

Man, i wish i was around when tires were this cheap, thanks again crassly


How about the name "Killsister?"...it think it would go along with the story, but seems way too violent

Looked up the serial numbers with the charts...Apparently its a 1952.

how do you think the bike would look without that fender?

Nice bike . I wish the one I bought had that much original paint on it. :mrgreen: Its a shame you didnt keep the green nos fenders you had they would have looked good on it. :lol:

I want to see if there IS original paint underneath this...its all brushed on

Dingo, can you post some close-up pics of the scallops in the paint? It would be nice if I could get stencils of that pattern-it'd be tons easier to get right.

If you want, ill get some original scallops for you too...these ones were painted over with a brush.

I say keep the fender that bike looks cool. I took the fender off my bike was riding after the rain and ran over a worm he must of been 6 feet long cause he was all over my bike and the back of my shirt. Kinda grose. :mrgreen:

SO my neighbor was driving along side me the other day, and asks "red rims?" I reply, Heck yeah!
And he drives away.

Today, He hops out of his rusted old car...starts talking to me and states that he doesnt really like some of my paint selections on my bikes...how nice of him

just get a water based pen(we use them to highlight damage for the insurance co.s theyre like a paint pen but wont come off with anything other than water)and color the wheels on his mower red :wink:
j/k who cares what he thinks as long as he keeps paying you so you can build more bikes and make some more 'awful' color choices!
