So a friend of my son's calls us up today and says he's been cleaning his garage and wants to know if we would like his dad's old bike that he had when he was a kid. Says it's a yellow banana seat bike. I play it all 8) like and say, yeah, I"ll take it off of your hands. My son and I hop in the car and get over there in record time (you could've heard the sonic boom). While driving over there I began to have doubts...perhaps it's just a little kid's bike, you know 12" or 18" rims, etc. Well I figured it'd be fun to play around with anyway. Once there and we see the bike, my son lays claim to it...so now we have a decent summer project coming up. :p
As it turns out, it's a Schwinn Sting Ray Fastback, 3 Speed, w/ original speedo. It needs a few things , obviously, but all except the tires, are there...should be a fun learning experience.

Should be a fun summer...three bikes to complete/build...I just hope the wife understands

1969 3 speed with a bar basket, nice find !!! should clean up nice, but tires for those are a bear to find ... good luck with :)

I just picked up a 69 5 speed same color and everything, It was a little pricey. My question is my shifter looks just like yours Is that knob bent over from factory or did someone do it?
