After driving over 3600 miles and not finding many bikes, the first service call I had on Monday a.m. found these ready to hit a yard sale this week, The 82 year old lady said she was going to ask $5.00 each, I gave her $50.00 and did not charge her for fixing her Boiler.
Am I reading the schwinn # right, I come up with 1960, to me it seems much later than that, it looks like it was bought last year, except for the dust it is pretty clean

That World is one their import "Xtra lite" series bikes, they had nothing like it in 1960. I have one nearly identical, complete with owner booklet, pub. date 1982.

I agree on that World. Real close to that date. Still amazing it survived this long without getting beat up. That headbadge may have a small number stamped in it. That would be 4 digits, like 0123, meaning 12th day of 1983. (3 date digits + 1 year digit).

The G in the serial probably means it was build by Giant under contract to Schwinn. And 0683 might mean June of 83, but don't quote me on that.

The Columbia there, that thing sooooo wishes it was a Typhoon. A lot of those came with 2-speed Bendix hubs. Nice bikes!
