My ORBO this year will be this schwinn thing. Not a schwinn, but it is a nicely made beach cruiser frame.
I have added a few bmx bits and really like how comfortable it is. So I want to give it a make over, paint it up, and swap in some new goodies.

As I picked it up.

After throwing some bmx goodies at it to see what sticks.

I have tried a couple different wheel tyre combos in the past. But just not feeling it yet.

So time to tear it apart and see what we can create.

I'm a fan of a free wheel for this kind of build, plus the fact it will be getting some fresh paint, I threw some v brake bosses on with the welder.

Spent the morning getting it stripped down and into primer. Also cut off the chain guard tabs. Onto chopping the mbbo frame for the afternoon.

Perfect spring day here, couldn't not blast the new colour on once the primer was dry.

I think metalcast blue will compliment the light blue of the frame quite nicely.

Now I was going to stay with 26" wheels.
But. Looking through my stash for skinny stock, I thought these rims would make for a perfect pair of 29" pro class rims for the schwthing.
So onto the drill.

Assembled ready for a wheel set.
Have ordered a pair of brake post extenders. Hoping It can work for an easy swap between either 26ers or 29ers, deepening on the mood.

Really cool build, this thing is coming out nice. Do you use a fixture for welding on your brake mounts? I haven't done that before but it looks like it would come in handy.

Yes, I use a fixture to keep them square. I'll dig it out and grab a picture

Got the wheels laced up.
Radial lacing up front, 3 cross for the rear. I didn't have any blue tape, so I used red electrical tape under the rim tape for now.
I would definitely like to find some skin wall tyres for it. Missed a set on ebay.

Borrowed the 26" tan walls from my e stay to try on the schwthing. Ima fan of the tan wall look.

Gumwall/tan wall tires are the way to go.

The Maxxis tan walls look awesome. I fitted the same set on the Avenger I built for a mate recently.
